to the Spotlight
In a small rural community in the 1970s, the world felt very small and the rules felt very rigid. As a young boy who dreamed of being a cheerleader, I was told—both silently and out loud—that my path was impossible. When I arrived at Ohio State University, I didn’t have the traditional skills to make the squad. Later, when my husband and I sought to start our family, a judge told us "no."But "no" was never the end of the story; it was just a hurdle.Through grit, the support of mentors, and a refusal to live a "limited" life, I cleared those hurdles. I made the OSU squad. I fought for my family until our beautiful children were in our arms. I learned that while doctors, therapists, and coaches can hand us the tools, we are the ones who have to take the leap.Limitless Living with Purpose and Joy is about identifying the three specific hurdles that stand between you and your best life—and finding the strength to clear them.
The Three Hurdles
1. The External Hurdle: The World’s "No"
These are the barriers placed in front of us by society, systems, and circumstances. It’s the judge who says you can’t adopt; it’s the rural town that says you don’t fit; it’s the glass ceilings and the critics in the stands.
-
The Goal: To navigate and dismantle the obstacles we didn’t create, but are responsible for overcoming.

2. The Internal Hurdle: The Mind’s "I Can’t"
The most difficult hurdles are often the ones we carry inside. These are the echoes of old scripts, the fear of rejection, and the self-doubt that tells us we aren't enough or that our dreams are "too much."
-
The Goal: To master our mindset and silence the inner critic that keeps us playing small.

3. The Physical Hurdle: The Vessel’s "Not Yet"
Our journey is lived through our bodies. Sometimes the barrier is a lack of technical skill, a health challenge, or the physical exhaustion of the fight. To live limitlessly, we must honor, train, and heal the physical vessel that carries our spirit.
-
The Goal: To optimize our physical vitality and develop the skills necessary to perform at our highest level.
